A design-led website is one that is easily navigable, showcases your brand to best effect, and has effective content which 'tells your story', getting across your unique selling proposition (USP). There are 5 website essentials you need to be aware of.
1. Be mobile-friendly
The Google mobile-friendly algorithm change last year was widely termed 'mobilegeddon', and we wrote a post about it here. If your website is not mobile optimised, it will be penalised on mobile search results pages. When you consider how many potential clients will be searching on their mobile phones for your business - from your location to the services you offer - it potentially has quite a significant impact on your business.
Unsure? Take the Google mobile-friendly test here.
2. Be consistent
If your website is over two years old, get somebody outside your business to take a look at each page with fresh eyes. How's the user experience (UX)? What is the impression given by your website?
Many firms will invest in a professional office fitout, but neglect their online presence. Your branding should be consistent, from the office and your collateral through to your website and social media channels.
3. Be authentic
Is your content the same as every other accounting practice? Consider professional copywriting services (complete with questionnaire and in-depth personal
interview) for a deep dive into your vision, passion, and expertise. What's your niche? What drives you? What can you offer your clients? Looking at
Google Analytics, the 'About Us' page tends to be one of the most highly viewed pages - because people really want to know about you.
From your imagery, headings, language and navigation, make sure you get across the 'essence' of who you are.
4. Be communicative
No blog? It's time to change that. Regularly blogging, or using a monthly content subscription, gives you content for your email marketing and social media campaigns. If you want to increase your lead generation, you need some activity happening. Let your clients know what you're up to, and expand your referral networks with a dedicated content marketing strategy.
5. Be engaging
The easiest way to encourage engagement through your website is to have 'call-to-actions' (CTA's) on your Homepage. Make it easy for people to connect,
interact and engage with you, for example by having an eBook prospective clients can download in return for giving you their email address.
