I’ve been totally blown away by the passion, enthusiasm and energy of the accountants I’ve met or connected with, most often virtually. Strategic agility is the ability to adapt and capitalise on opportunities, and cloud accounting has opened the door to a range of new products, services and even business models. Adapting to change
A constantly changing environment has its challenges, and its been interesting to see the rise of Xero as the go-to Cloud accounting platform for SMB's. With over 400 technology 'add-ons' to provide instant capabilities for business efficiency gains, there's no shortage of choice. Accountants are increasingly becoming cloud integrators, and are also moving to a proactive role in marketing their own business. I was intrigued, and I must say surprised, to see so many accountants blogging and tweeting at the first Xerocon I went to a few years ago. More conversations now revolve around SEO, implementing and executing a content marketing strategy, and how to be effective on social media.
I've recently started learning to fly light aircraft, and it's given me a whole new perspective on an environment I consider I know well. Flying over the hills I walk up has involved an entire new orientation to familiar landmarks. In a similar way, looking at your business from a new perspective can open your eyes to new possibilities and opportunities.
